One month beforehand

  • Decide on a place and theme for your party.
  • Make your guest list.
  • Plan the menu.
  • Buy decorations and favors.
  • Make arrangements for the things you'll need to hire or rent.

Tree weeks beforehand

  • Send out invitations
  • Make your shopping list and don't forget about:
    - Tableware
    - Hats
    - Party Poppers
    - Silly String
    - Streamers
    - Fireworks
    - Sparklers
    - Costumes
  • Buy non-perishable items.

Two weeks beforehand

  • Check your guest list and remind those who haven't responded.
  • Make as much food as possible in advance and freeze it.
  • Make mix tapes or CDs.

One week beforehand

  • Check if you have everything you need for recipes and snacks.
  • Do your food shopping.
  • Check if you have corkscrews, cameras and camcorders charged and full.

Three days beforehand:

  • Clean the house.
  • Start to put up decorations.
    Decorate with inexpensive items on hand: fresh greens, crafts, pine cones.
  • Think of some fun and games for the party

Two days beforehand:

  • Shop for last-minute items.
  • Make sure all the decorations are set.
  • Test the fireworks

One day beforehand:

  • Arrange and set tables.
  • Prepare as many recipes and ingredients as possible
    Chop vegetables you'll cook as part of a recipe
  • Thaw frozen items.

On the day:

  • Prepare foods.
  • Wash up.
  • Make sure all foods and drinks to be served cold are well chilled.
  • Set out snacks.
    Cover perishable snacks up until the last minute.
  • Turn on your music system.
    Set the right mood with pleasant background music, don't make it too loud.
  • Turn down the lights and light the candles.
  • Switch on the radio or TV at ten minutes to midnight.
