  • Prior to mass production scientifically test the product out to control its suitability to:
    • Expected (usual) conditions;
    • Unexpected conditions;
    • Extreme conditions;
  • Make sure the product is suitable to its target audience:
    • It covers the needs it is supposed to cover;
    • It justifies hopes of the target customers;
    • It suits their age, gender, life-style, etc;
    • It suits their pattern of satisfaction;
    • It has some features making it better than its competitors;
  • Keep seeking for traits and solutions to be further improved in the product’s design:
    • Examine all potential changes in the product’s design via methods of technical analysis and modeling;

  • Control the level of customer loyalty to the product. Try to survey their opinion to derive what kind of adequate alternative would make them exchanging your product to something else: this can help you to understand the real worth of your product;
  • Study image of your product. What people think about your product in general and in respect to certain characteristics? If someone prefers to buy from your competitors, then learn why exactly this happens (what makes the potential customers feeling discontented or suspicious about your product);
  • Maintain user community to keep abreast of their voice, suggestions and opinions. Use web-site, corporate forums, and other means for this
